Good day, dear readers, both old and new,
Allow me to introduce myself briefly. My name is Daphné, and in my spare time I amuse myself by writing fiction. I used to harbour dreams of getting published by a big-name house, but my priorities have since changed. As long as I have a few readers who enjoy my work, then I think that's more than enough.
Eventually I will have a page up on this site detailing who I am, what I do, and why I decided to have a website dedicated exclusively to my writing. Until that day comes, this short introduction will have to suffice.
Please bear with me as this site begins to take shape. For one thing, I know absolutely nothing about websites (I mean diddly-squat), and so the lovely and talented Hilary Doda has set this whole thing up for me. Therefore, she has to interpret all my garbled requests and make them into a reality, within the bounds of reason. Please don't hesitate to contact me if there are problems, but don't expect them to get fixed instantaneously. Did I mention that I know nothing about this sort of thing?
Starting today, July 1st 2009, I will be publishing two weekly serials. Those of you who have been following my writing over at LiveJournal at http://secret-history.livejournal.com will already know of both Beyond the Pale and Conflation. The good news is, for new readers, that I am going to be starting over at this site. Each serial will be posted once a week, starting next Tuesday, and beginning with the first installment. That way long-time readers will get the opportunity to catch up, and new readers won't come in feeling as though they're really behind. Beyond the Pale in particular is a bit of a beast, and so I'll be taking the opportunity to do some superficial editing to correct as many typoes and unfortunate phrasings as possible.
Beyond the Pale will publish on Tuesdays, as it used to, and Conflation will publish on Thursdays.
As an added bonus, I will be putting up new and different works as well. My zombie novel, also originally published at Secret History but which has since undergone some pretty serious revisions, will eventually be uploaded to the site, as will my Y/A novel, A Lamentation of Swans, once it's finished. Suggestions and requests will be taken into consideration, but I won't promise anything more than that.
So thank you, friends and readers, for embarking with me on this very exciting journey. I hope that the road will be long and full of adventure.
